Sometimes Ya' Just Gotta...

So, I just spent about 7 or 8 days away from hanging out on Facebook like I normally do on a daily basis. I have been known to do this from time to time in order to maintain my sanity from all the craziness and madness in the cyber-world. Sometimes ya' just gotta... On Thanksgiving night it was reported that at Alabama's largest enclosed mall, the Riverchase Galleria, there was a shooting that left one person dead and two others, one being an innocent bystander 12-year-old girl, injured. This incident being a part of the "Black Friday" shopping weekend on the very day when families and friends spend a day together giving thanks for the things they have. Only to have some people spend that Friday fussing and fighting over the best deals on those much "needed" material things that so many retail establishments have for sale. It was mentioned in some places that after this shooting, while this mall was still closed as the investigation was being conducted, there were others who were complaining about not being able to shop for all those "money saving" deals. Now I have worked in the "retail world" since around 1996 and have witnessed many a "Black Friday". Thankfully I have never been personally involved in any life-threatening situations like the one I just mentioned or others that are often reported about each year. However in those 22 years I have seen some of the rudest and most angry people. Imagine a place of business offering FREE cups of hot coffee to customers and to have one ask about how STRONG it is. And then they comment about how they can't drink strong coffee, only to pour some into a cup and say they don't like the way it looks and say they'll just have to throw it away. Oh there are many other minor incidents like this that I remember, but I don't have the time nor the energy to share them all here.

Sometimes ya' just gotta wonder what is wrong with people in this world today! But I have also seen some of the nicest and most friendly people as well. Some of those have become my friends in the last 16 years or so. It is always great to see them no matter what day of the year it is. On occasion I have shared a few stories about those customers that were less friendly and they will usually just shake their heads in disbelief. In some of my Facebook postings I have also mentioned about how on occasion I will use my love of music to escape those troubles in this world, which of course includes that cyber-world too. As a matter of fact as I am writing this I have my headphones on with the volume cranked while listening to some great tunes. When that darkness falls upon my mind from all this craziness and madness, it is one way that I find some solace. Sometimes that music makes me to see things more clearly and it will bring light to my mind. I have often found answers to what may be bothering me and I can continue being thankful for what I do have in this life. I have also prayed to God to bring me through those troubling times.
