A Time For Reflecting On The Past And To Ponder The Future

Today is December 29, 2018, a New Year draws nigh. I have experienced many things in my 55 years of life. There have been successes and there have been failures. There have been heart-warming times and there have been heart-wrenching times. From each of these I have tried to learn something.

Some people may already be thinking of their "New Year's Resolution", which is when an individual may resolve to change an undesired trait or behavior, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life. I honestly don't ever recall making one myself, but I suppose there is nothing wrong in doing so.

However there is always a time for reflecting on the past and to ponder the future. Yet I still have no plans to make a New Year's Resolution for the coming years. I am not perfect and I will never be. I will continue to make mistakes for the rest of my life. But I hope that I will still continue to learn something.

Every now and again darkness falls upon my mind as I reflect on those failures and heart-wrenching times of my past, or even my present, as I may also ponder what my future may hold. Often I will make the use of listening to music to help clear my mind and more times than not I will come out of that darkness and be able to see things in a new light.

"I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection." - Thomas Paine
